Location: Alberta
Wage: $40.00/hr
Description: Heavy-duty equipment mechanics repair, troubleshoot, adjust, overhaul and maintain mobile heavy-duty equipment used in construction, transportation, forestry, mining, oil and gas, material handling, landscaping, land clearing, farming and similar activities. They are employed by companies which own and operate heavy equipment, and by heavy equipment dealers, rental and service establishments, railway transport companies and urban transit systems. Apprentices are also included in this unit group.
Shift: Full-time position (Monday- Friday) 50 hours/week

Duties & Responsibilities:

- Maintain and repair heavy equipment(trailers, semi’s, trucks)
- Diagnose faults or malfunctions using computerized and other testing equipment to determine extent of repair required
- Adjust equipment and repair or replace defective parts, components or systems, using hand and power tools
- Test repaired equipment for proper performance and to ensure that work meets manufacturers' specifications
- Clean, lubricate and perform other routine maintenance work on equipment

Qualifications:

- A high school diploma or equivalent. Completing a formal technical education program, such as a vocational or trade school, in automotive or diesel technology can provide a strong foundation of knowledge and skills necessary for truck mechanics. This would be an added advantage.
- Over 5 years of working experience, experience is vital for becoming proficient in heavy-duty truck repair.
- Precise attention to detail is necessary when diagnosing problems and making repairs to ensure that all components are properly aligned and functioning.
- Effective communication is essential when dealing with customers, coworkers, and supervisors. Being able to explain complex technical issues in a clear and understandable manner is important.
- Hydraulics specialist mechanic who has experience working with heavy equipment, would be a plus.
- Must possess a valid driver license and safe driving record.
- Must be willing to maintain all health & safety requirements to maintain a safe environment for self and colleagues.
